In the North Tahoe-Truckee region, there is a staggering need for housing at every income level, from homeless to middle-income salary earners. Available, achievable housing that fits a diverse range of household types is essential to maintaining the social fabric, economic vibrance and health of our community.

Permanent Supportive Housing in the North Tahoe Truckee region is one step closer to reality. The Placer County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution regarding the implementation of California’s Homekey program to acquire the 7 Pines Motel, a 14-unit motel located in Kings Beach for Supportive Housing.
If passed, the funding measure would provide approximately $700,000 annually for 20 years to the Town of Truckee without increasing taxes on local residents and businesses. The additional funds would help provide housing that is affordable to low- and middle-income workers and local families who are struggling to rent or buy a home in addition to preserving open space and bolstering response to natural disasters and fire.
To launch and implement its Housing Initiative, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) formed a Housing and Community Revitalization Working Group composed of members from local agencies and organizations, housing developers, and community members. Working in tandem with TRPA, the Group will implement strategies that incentivize affordable housing for locals.
Coldstream Commons, a 48-unit affordable housing project, will be deed-restricted to income earners making 60% of area median income or below, which for a family of two is under $40,000 per year. More.
Frishman Hollow II, a 68-unit affordable housing project, will be deed-restricted to income earners making 80% of the area median income, which for a family of two is $55,050. More.
Truckee Artist Lofts, a 77-unit affordable housing project, will be deed-restricted to income earners making between 30 and 80% of the area median income, which for a family of two is between $20,650 and $55,050. More.
